A Message from the Senior Warden - God is at Work in the Gap
In my conversations with parishioners, some have expressed grief about the departure of Fr. Bob and Mo. Liza. Some people are anxious about when will we have a new rector. There is, among some, a sense of simply waiting.
But there is good news! The Diocese is recruiting and vetting candidates. The search committee, faithfully led by Jonathan Fellows, will interview applicants sent to us by the Diocese, and then the Vestry determines whether to call the candidate. Therefore, let us “not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
God is with us now. “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20. God is leading this community and we are learning about our strength as a faith community. We are growing, giving and serving.
The Worship Committee is meeting faithfully to plan our services. The service is the event. To worship is a decision.
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalms 100:1-5
The communication committee continues to think, pray, and write newsletters and work on how to further strengthen our community working to “equip His people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built.” Ephesians 4:12.
The building and gardens committee is stewarding the physical places in our care but ever mindful that we “are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3: 9
We have five wonderful parishioners who have agreed to represent us at the Diocesan Convention. Sandy Petroff and Gretchen Lipp have agreed to serve as delegates; Grace Probe as the youth delegate and Madeline Hartt and Marti Cook as the alternate delegates.
We have excellent guest priests lined up to worship with us for most of the summer.
God is working in the gap. God is with us now.
Therefore, let us work together, “be sympathetic, love one another, be com-passionate and humble.” 1 Peter 3:8
With peace, love, joy and hope—
